Conservation Is Outdated
Each year an estimated $10 billion is spent in the name of conservation but overall deforestation rates, hunting rates and the endangerment of species still show very few signs of slowing down.
The general view of current conservation programmes and projects worldwide is that they are not as effective as they could, or in fact should be.
In our opinion, this lack of effectiveness is caused by the fact that very little of that total annual spend reaches the indigenes and insufficient effort is made to involve them in the general conservation process.
A Different Approach
Commercial conservation, our more modern approach to conservation, centres around two things: our mission to show that living rainforests can be more valuable alive than as timber, and the financial empowerment of indigenes to ensure their buy-in with all of our conservation projects, whilst vastly improving their quality of life.
We are doing this through the popularisation and development of non-timber forest products, NTFPs, into natural pet treats.
By involving our indigenous partners at every level of our conservation process, whilst providing transparent updates and tangible products to our customers, we hope that we can make conservation more accessible to those who do not claim to be life scientists.
Only through the demystifying of this industry can true lasting change be enacted!
Waste – To – Wealth
Farmers of the rainforest seldom succeed in selling more than 60% of their harvest for various reasons ranging from limited access to local markets to poor preservation techniques. This leads to a devastating amount of food waste each year.
This is why, alongside our sustainably wild-collected forest ingredients, we provide offtake guarantees to all of our participating farmers in return for their participation in our projects – by bettering their little patch of rainforest, by planting trees rather than cutting them down, they sell more of their crops!
We don’t stop there though! We are also showing them how to be more efficient in their processing, and are helping them to create value added products to give them a better chance to sell off their harvests in their own local markets.
Our attempt to improve the lives of the communities we work with doesn’t go unnoticed, instead it ensures their cooperation - a feat many organisations have failed to accomplish.
No Junk In Our Trunk
Given the nature of our organisation, it should come as no surprise that there are absolutely no preservatives, additives or artificial ingredients in any of our treats – we believe our ingredients speak for themselves!
We take great care when selecting the ingredients that we use in our treats. Not only do we prioritise the use of human-grade wholefoods, but we also test our treats on ourselves first - if we don’t like the taste of them then there’s no way we are offering them to your pets!
We are immensely proud that of the ingredients we use across our range of products, ALL of them are nutrient dense and will add value to your pet’s diet and NONE of them are pointless fillers.
How else can we show off the value of our planet’s wild places…?
